Privacy
Your family's memories are personal.
This page describes how Volume One and its optional ChatGPT connection handle information. We will update it as the service changes.
What you choose to save
The app stores the child details, photos, words, voice notes, milestones, captions and page choices you add. A book can also contain notes submitted through a family link after you review them.
Google sign-in
When you sign in with Google, Volume One requests your Google account ID, name and email address to create and maintain your Volume One account. Sign-in uses only the OpenID, email and profile scopes. Volume One does not request or access Gmail or Google Drive data, and does not keep Google access or refresh tokens.
Apple sign-in
Apple sign-in is available only when configured for this environment. When enabled, Volume One uses the verified Apple account identifier and email when Apple provides one; Apple may provide a private relay address. The app does not use your Apple password or access other Apple account data. A refresh token is stored encrypted on the server only so account deletion can request revocation from Apple; it is not sent to your browser.
Where data lives
The web app keeps a device copy for your drafts and can sync an account copy to the service. A family link gives its holder access to the shared book view; keep the link with people you trust. Photos and voice recordings use unlisted media links. Anyone who has a media link, or a printed voice-note QR code, can open that media without signing in. Media and account records are processed by service providers needed to run the app.
When you connect ChatGPT
The optional Volume One plugin connects only the cloud albums and permissions you select. OpenAI receives the album details and memory information requested through that connection. Volume One receives the tool requests needed to carry out your instructions, including words, dates, captions and photos you choose to send. We do not request your full conversation history, camera roll, Gmail or Google Drive.
For an attached photo, Volume One downloads the file from the temporary attachment link supplied by ChatGPT and stores an original plus a display copy on our Vercel hosting and storage service. The temporary download link is not kept in the album. Original files can contain camera or location metadata; the display copy has that metadata removed. Plugin photo files use revocable media links, and anyone with a working media link can open that image.
Plugin drafts, saved memories and disconnection
A prepared memory is a draft until the save completes. Drafts expire after 24 hours. Expiry prevents a later save; it does not itself delete stored photo bytes. Unfinished photo uploads and uncertain saves may remain while we reconcile their status. Saved memories and operation records remain with your account until removed through account deletion or a support request.
Volume One access tokens last ten minutes. The connection can renew them for up to 30 days, subject to security limits, after which you reconnect. Use Account → Connected plugins to revoke a connection at any time. Disconnecting stops future plugin access; it does not delete memories already saved in your book or messages already held by ChatGPT.
Account deletion revokes plugin connections and removes their account-owned photo files. This differs from older shared web photo and audio links, which currently need a separate removal request. OpenAI handles your ChatGPT conversation under its own privacy policy and account controls. For deletion or other data questions, use our contact page.
When you order
Checkout is handled by a payment provider. A print order sends the information needed to make and deliver the book to a print partner, including the print files and delivery details.
Your choices
The account controls offer an export and account deletion. You can also save a device copy of a book. Account deletion removes account records and access; shared photo and audio files currently require a separate removal request, and previously downloaded or cached copies may remain. For a media removal or data request, use the contact page.
